CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., July 5, 2023 – Pearl Certification, the national provider of certification for energy-efficient and high-performing homes, has upgraded the mobile version of its Green Door app — an all-in-one home performance toolkit that gives homeowners the power to improve, maintain, and market their investments in energy-efficient improvements.
Green Door helps homeowners not only understand the impact of high-performing energy assets like heat pumps, solar panels, and smart home devices, but also plan, execute, and save on these upgrades. Users can generate customized, goal-driven Home Investment Plans with science-backed, energy-efficient home improvement recommendations. They can connect with local, vetted contractors in the Pearl Network, find thousands of dollars in rebates and tax credits, and even shop for sustainable home products — all from the app. And as homeowners make the switch to energy-efficient features, fixtures, and systems, Green Door awards Pearl Points, which add up to high-tier Pearl Certifications for the home.
Now, Pearl has upgraded the mobile app by adding maintenance-tracking features previously available only on the web-based version. With this upgrade, the mobile app can sync with the calendar on the user’s phone, and send an alert when a furnace filter needs to be changed, batteries need to be switched out, or any other maintenance item identified by the manufacturer or created by the homeowner or their contractor.

Pearl Certified homes sell at a 5 percent premium on average when compared to uncertified homes, according to studies commissioned by Pearl. Pearl Certification reports drive demand for energy improvements by making them visible at time of sale, allowing home sellers to capture the value of their investments and buyers to find the homes they want.
The Green Door app debuted in late 2020 as a free consumer entryway to the Pearl Certification process. Months later, the app was honored with the inaugural PropTech Breakthrough Award for “Home Services Platform of the Year” by PropTech Breakthrough, a leading independent market intelligence organization that evaluates and recognizes standout real estate technology companies, products, and services around the globe.
