On April 24, 2018, Pearl CEO Cynthia Adams received the prestigious Linda Wigington Leadership Award at the 2018 National Home Performance Conference in Philadelphia, PA. Cynthia was introduced to the audience as a change agent, community advocate and industry mentor.

“Cynthia, the impressive work you did at LEAP and now with Pearl Certification stood out to us as truly worthy of our highest honor. The work being done at Pearl is changing the relationship between energy efficiency and real estate – something our industry has needed for a long time,” said Nate Natale, Vice President of Education at the Home Performance Coalition (HPC).

The crowd of 1400 industry leaders, weatherization professionals, home performance contracting businesses, builders and remodelers, program administrators, and others working in the residential energy efficiency industry cheered as Cynthia took the stage to receive the award.

“I’m very grateful to the mentors, colleagues, and team members who have shared their insight and support for the businesses and ideas I’ve championed,” said Cynthia. “It’s tremendously important to me to make a difference in my work, and along with many others in our industry, I recognize that we play a critical role in making homes healthier and more efficient, as well as in mitigating climate change.

“In the five years since Cynthia and I decided to launch Pearl, Cynthia has pursued our mission with relentless determination, exceptional strategic vision, and unfettered optimism to great success,” said Robin LeBaron, co-founder and COO of Pearl Home Certification, expressing his enthusiasm for her award on behalf of himself and the Pearl team. “She is committed to creating and inspiring an ethical company that supports, nurtures and empowers the people who work for it. I can’t think of anyone in the energy efficiency industry who has a more inspiring story, or anyone I’d rather be in the trenches with to change the way people buy and sell homes.”

The Linda Wigington Leadership Award celebrates visionary leaders doing extraordinary work to strengthen the home performance and weatherization industry. This award showcases individual excellence in leadership as demonstrated by outstanding initiative, impact of work, and inspiration to others. Formerly known as the ACI Leadership Award, the Linda Wigington Leadership Award was re-named in 2014 to honor Linda Wigington, founder of the Affordable Comfort Conference.

Cynthia Adams, Pearl Certification's CEO, recently won the highest award offered by the Building Performance Association, formerly the Home Performance Coalition: The Linda Wigington Leadership Award. Here is her acceptance speech.
