Real estate agents, we’re excited to announce an important update to our Scoring System, designed to help you highlight the value of renewable energy upgrades. As of October 28, 2024, solar panel arrays, home energy storage, and EV charging stations will now be scored alongside energy-efficient home features like HVAC and insulation. This enhancement provides you with a new tool to showcase the full benefits of these features to clients.

Background

Solar, batteries, and EV chargers have long been part of Pearl’s Certification System due to their significant impact on a home’s value and performance. With the Solar Badge and solar equity calculation in each Certification Report, you’ve been able to present these renewable assets as essential in home appraisals and assessments. Now, the enhanced Pearl Score goes even further, adding a new pathway for homes to reach Pearl Silver Certification and helping you communicate the added market value of these upgrades to buyers.

Key Enhancements in the Pearl Scoring System

Scoring Categories: The updated Pearl Score now includes a dedicated section for solar panels, EV chargers, and energy storage, ensuring these features are documented for their critical role in home performance and value.

200 Dedicated Points for Solar: An additional 200 points have been allocated for solar, batteries, and EV charging within the Pearl Score, bringing the total score from 1200 to 1400. This balance preserves the weight of other home assets while emphasizing the performance impact of renewable energy.

New Path to Silver Certification: Homes with solar now have a streamlined way to reach Pearl Silver Certification—earning a minimum of 700 points plus one verified solar panel array. This update makes it even easier for you to show the tangible benefits of renewable features to potential buyers.
